After a moment’s pause, Garry stands up again and says, ‘I don’t have to forgive him, because I can’t!’

He’s about to storm off to his bedroom when the doorbell rings.

Garry and Jamie listen from the dining room as Nan opens the front door.

‘Hello, Brian,’ she says. ‘And, it’s Shark, right?’

‘Angus or Shark, I don’t mind.’

Garry heads for his bedroom until Jamie grabs him by the arm. ‘Sit.’

Garry reluctantly returns to his seat at the table.

‘Garry’s in the back room with Jamie,’ says Nan in the hallway.

The boys can hear the coach’s voice. ‘Garry calls you Nan, but it’s Sarah, right?’

‘Close,’ says Nan. ‘Sarah’s my daughter. I’m Maree.’

‘Sorry,’ Brian says as they step into the living room. ‘Maree, of course. We just wanted to do a quick welfare check to make sure Garry’s okay.’ He smiles when he sees Garry. ‘And there he is. Hi, Garry. Hi, Jamie.’

‘Hey,’ says Garry.

‘Hey,’ says Jamie.

‘Garry,’ says Shark, holding out his fist.
